Hands-on Firefighting Workshop for Women

Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services Training Centre (1330 Chess Street, Vancouver)
January 19, 2019 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Curious about a career in the Fire Service? Discover first-hand what it takes at a hands-on firefighting workshop for women and persons that identify as female, including transgender individuals.

Participants will be introduced to essential skills that are needed to become a firefighter from career female firefighters and their colleagues serving at Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services. Participants will also be able to speak with a JIBC Fire & Safety Division representative to discover what it takes to enroll in Canada's premiere firefighter training school.

Minimum age to participate is 19. Cost is $25. Lunch will be provided. As the workshop will involve strenuous physical activity, participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottle and dress in appropriate active wear.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience along with important information needed to pursue an exciting career as a firefighter!

The workshop is now full. Sign up to the waiting list to be informed if a space becomes available at this workshop, or to get advanced notice about the next workshop.

Alternatively, you can register for our regularly scheduled information sessions at the JIBC Maple Ridge campus.

All participants are required to sign and complete a JIBC Waiver Form and a VFRS Waiver Form prior to participating in the workshop. Please bring a hard copy the morning of the workshop or email it to fire@jibc.ca with "Firefighting Workshop Waiver Form" in the subject line.
